Trust in journalism is built through repeatable editorial practice rather than branding alone. PRESS01 begins with three operating principles: verification, attribution and correction.
Verification means that material claims should be tested against documents, direct statements, reliable records or independently confirmable evidence. Attribution means readers should understand where information originates and whether a passage represents reporting, analysis, opinion or an institutional statement.
Correction is equally important. News develops, documents change and mistakes can occur. When a material error is established, PRESS01 will correct it transparently. Clarifications may be added where the original wording was technically accurate but could reasonably create a false impression.
Investigative and case-file reporting requires additional care. Allegations must not be presented as established fact without sufficient evidence. Relevant parties should be given a meaningful opportunity to respond, and chronology should be separated from interpretation. These standards are not obstacles to strong reporting; they are what allow strong reporting to endure scrutiny.
